September 2, 2014Searching for housing in the Bay Area is a challenge I never imagined could be so difficult…especially when you’re moving from the midwest. My house hunt began days after I graduated and continued two days prior to leaving my hometown. I have met other wonderful CCA students along the way of this search, but still found nothing promising up until that point. I purchased my flight having no clear idea where I was going and how I would make it out here without a place to stay a week in advance. I came across my current Landlords a day before departure through Airbnb & Shutterfly - who happened to have a cozy house in a beautiful area of Oakland and a newly vacant room for rent to call home. On the day of arrival, I traveled from the San Francisco Airport by Bart and was greeted with warm hearts and open arms. Having two loving dogs (Vesta & Maya) to walk with, kindred spirits to confide in, and a beautiful yard to retire to for relaxation after a long days, I couldn’t be happier and more grateful for answered prayer to such perfect living arrangements for me.
If there was ever a moment in my search that discouraged me from doubting the power and love of God to take care of me and provide my every need in this venture, I can safely say now that they are no more. I am safe, I am loved, I am healthy, and I sure am happy. Nothing compares to the amount of gratitude I feel in my heart and the hope I have for a brighter tomorrow right now. Here’s to a new life, a new school year, and a deeper level of seeing faith in action!
